Paklenica national park is situated on the southern slopes of Velebit. The most attractive parts of this area are the Mala and Velika Paklenica canyons. The park represents the biggest forest complex in Dalmatia and abounds in geomorphologic shapes, plant and animal species and untouched nature.

 

Some of the main characteristics of Paklenica national park are the indigenous black pine forests, several types of pine forests, and deep canyons with creeks.

 

There are tracks and roads throughout the park area and they range from touristic to mountaineer and lead all the way up to highest peaks of Velebit. The roads are marked by road and mountaineer signs. In addition to mountaineering, climbing is also recommended to the adventurous. The alpinist season opens in spring and ends in autumn. If you are in search of an unforgettable experience, be sure to visit the Manita Peć cave which is full of cave ornaments and is characterized with a wealth of underground fauna. The park is open throughout the year, and the entry fee price depends on the date of arrival and costumer category.
